Dr. Charlie Boast
Dentist | BDS (ADEL).
I graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2003 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, feeling very green. I went bush to country Queensland straight after graduating where they were so short of dentists that I was welcomed. Once I’d worked it out I came home. I’ve worked mostly in private practice since then, with one stint in the public system; I spent a two year period working partly in private practice and partly as a registrar in the specialist Paediatric Dental Unit at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide. I did this for love, and to make kids laugh when they see me. I’ve spent most of my career in Adelaide, though grew up mostly rurally. I did a load of extra study between 2005 and 2011 to consolidate my dental knowledge . That resulted in admission, as Fellow, to the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons (by examination) in 2011. I’m on the local board for the Australian Prosthdontic Society, and am a member of the Australian Dental Association.
I really enjoy dentistry. I love the relationships it fosters. I love to talk; dentistry is a great platform for talking. I deal with people all day, making new friends, helping people. I feel very lucky to be in such a position. I love building things. Small things. I especially enjoy thoughtful dentistry, love problem solving and imagine that patients appreciate these qualities when they have concerns.
Outside of work I like building things too. House renovations, furniture, bikes and gardens. I’m ready to build a boat, but am going to start with a chicken coop. I love going bush. I dream of Simpson desert sunrises. I race push bikes in the bush on the weekends, and am on the local bike club committee.
I’m engaged to be married late this year. My fiancées a champ.
